Welcome to the 2010 Babylon Plants catalogue, we are currently updating it as it is 2 years old . With over a thousand species available we offer a complete plant supply service for garden designers and landscapers. We specialise in hardy perennials and ornamental grasses and also have a wide range of container grown shrubs, climbers and trees. Plants are generally available in pot sizes from 9cm to 43.

The catalogue has been completely overhauled and we now list descriptions of all the plants including cultivation, size, colours and descriptions of habit and foliage. We hope this will make some of the more unusual plants more accessible.

This website is currently intended as an enquiry system for orders. Our stock is constantly changing and once an enquiry is received we will contact you regarding availability. If you prefer please send your order as an Excel or Word document using the email link

We have created a new section dedicated to larger specimen shrubs grown in 12-90 litre pots. This now includes the current height and width of the plants at the time of going to press in January as well as the current number available. As ever, we are able to source a huge variety of other specimens and species not listed through our affiliated nurseries. This can usually be done within fourteen days. Please phone, fax or drop into the nursery to discuss your requirements. We order in bulbs, bare-root and root-balled plants during autumn and winter and are happy to source plants this way if orders are placed.

The range of shrubs being grown has drastically increased over the last year and will have dozens more available in early summer as liners mature. This includes four types of Hamamelis, five Acer palmatum cultivars, six new Cistus cultivars and other choice shrubs such as Daphne and Myrtus. These will become available throughout the growing season so it will always be worth asking if what you need is not listed. A supplementary list will be sent out in late summer ready for autumn planting.

Designers and landscapers are welcome to shop or browse during opening hours - Monday to Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. Please report to a member of staff on arrival. Alternatively fax or phone your order so we can ready your plants for collection.

The majority of our herbaceous plants come from ground stock in the trial beds surrounding the nursery. Most are grown from divisions, cuttings or seed taken from the existing mother plants ensuring they are acclimatised to local growing conditions. The stock beds around the nursery also allow you to see many varieties growing naturally, displaying their full attributes and stature.

Louise Shaw, the nursery manager, has been joined this year by Claire Crook who is working three days a week. Claire has nearly ten years experience working in the wholesale nursery trade and has brought a wealth of new talent and energy to the nursery. So whether its horticultural advice or simply speedy service, Louise or Claire are usually available to advise and help.
